2. Attend a review session and Pass Insurance Licensing Exam
We financial advisors are licensed professionals. You must pass the government regulator’s (Insurance Commission) Licensure Exam before offering financial advisory services to your clients. The review session is very convenient. It is done mostly online. There, helpful review materials will also be given to you. With Aetos Financial and Manulife having the best trainers, we are sure that you will pass the licensure exam.
There are two examinations for financial advisors:
1. Traditional Exam – Group Insurance for companies and pure insurance products
2. VUL (Variable) Exam – Recommended for new advisors to take because you can sell both insurance and investment
*Optional take: the Exam to offer pure investment products (Unit Investment Trust Funds). Unlike insurance products, UITFs have no insurance component and are ideal for short-term investments.
Taking the Traditional Examination first is recommended because it is way easier than the VUL exam.
There are two options for the Exam:
a. Face to Face exam
b. Online Exam (which will need you to have a working laptop w/ camera and internet connection of at least 2 MBPS)
Insurance Commission’s Exam is 50 questions multiple choice. The government (Insurance Commission) charges a minimal exam fee (around one thousand pesos only).
3. Be a licensed financial advisor
The third and last step is to submit all your licensing documents. The following are the documents that you need to submit:
a. Proof of payment contracting fee (P350)
b. Recent 1×1 and 2X2 (for ID) colored ID Photo in High Definition white background
c. Completion of Jumpstart Training Program
e. Duly received notarized IC Application with Documentary Stamp
