Insurance is one of the most important things many Filipinos take for granted. For some, it is a form of liability rather than a source of funds during emergencies. But for Jivelle Anne Borcena, it is the other way around. And her story proves how a right insurance can save an entire family from a difficult financial situation when life takes a sharp turn.
It was the fateful night of June 15, 2021, when Jivelle Anne and her family found themselves in deep water. She was at her wit’s end trying to think of ways to pay for her mother’s hospital bill. Her bank savings have been exhausted. She had to use her credit card for the downpayment to the hospital.
On the cusp of giving up, she thought of one last resort. She was no magician but she had one last card to pull out of her bag of surprise – her investment fund.
So, I decided to just withdraw one of my investment funds.”
It was a tough choice for the 31-year-old financial advisor. She wanted her investment to grow bigger, but the situation left her with only one option.
“Dahil kailangan na talaga at ito na lang yung way ko sa ngayon, I decided to process a withdrawal from my Insular Life fund. Gusto ko sana mas lumaki pa yung funds at may additional insurance pa ko, kaso kailangan talaga e.”
Where It All Started
Looking back, Jivelle Anne could not be thankful enough for making a brave decision on putting her entire bank savings to a one-time investment with Insular Life. Last year, while the world was in chaos due to the coronavirus pandemic, her mind was in order. There was no second thought. She knew she wanted to take the risk. And if she had a chance to invest more, she would have.
“May 12, 2020 when I had my Solid Fund Builder policy from InLife effective. I transferred my 120k bank savings to an investment policy na may insurance din pero syempre focused on investment kasi nga may other policy na naman ako focused on health insurance,” Jiville shared.
“Since given na may fees and charges to process any investment, my 120k savings became 113k+ investment funds + 150k insurance. One-time investment lang to, walang monthly.
A year later, it paid off. Though there were regrets, she was happy with the fruits her investment bore.
Big Help on Its Way
To Jiville’s surprise, her investment fund earned more than she expected in just one year. According to her, the earnings would have been bigger if she included the amount she paid for withdrawal fees.
But all in all, she was satisfied with the figures. And that time, she was confident that big help was on its way to her family.
“Nag-earn ng 20k+ yung investment ko in 1 year lang. Actually, mas malaki pa na-earn nya, pero di ko na lang sinama yung fees/charges for withdrawal,” she revealed.
To this, Borcena sang nothing but praises to her investment partners, Aetos Financial and Insular Life, for taking care of her finances.
“Malaking tulong ung 20k+ na naging earning nya. If may chance na makapag save ulit ako for SFB, di ako magdadalawang isip na mag open ulit.
The effective investment management was just the tip of the iceberg. Jivelle Anne also shared how the insurance provider completed and delivered the withdrawal request in a seamless process.
“June 17, Thursday.. I asked my mentor how I can process my full withdrawal of investment. And the way is completely online. I set a schedule via the InLife customer portal to activate my i-serve services,” she said.
“June 18, Friday, the CS called me for verification of account. June 21, Monday, application is completed and will be processed in 2-3 days.”
In just three days, Borcena and her family were able to get back on their feet. With the help of her investment in Insular Life, they were able to move forward despite the unforeseen events in their lives.
Sobrang thankful talaga ko dito,” she said in bliss.
